"Improv through exhaustion"
w/ Kristen King (Darkside of the Room - ATL) This workshop is half Improv, half sweatfest! Yep, you read that right! WE. WILL. BE. SWEATING. We’re going to alternate between doing well-executed improv scenes/games and different workouts to get and keep our clips pumping. So often we’re doing improv at the end of an already long day, in between day jobs and gigs, and while sick. Sometimes we preface our improv with letting our fellow improvisors know we’ve had a long day or this or that so that we can put a disclaimer on if we’re low energy or off in our scenes. But instead, let’s learn to turn that into usable sauce for our improv noodles! We will find ways to push through our exhaustion and strive to use whatever we’re experiencing as fuel for our scenes. Please come prepared to move and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Wear what you would wear to the gym. A towel and water bottle are encouraged.

"Ditching the detachment"
w/ Zeke Nicholson (White Women, LA) Improv is all about “finding the funny,” but the truth is we often sacrifice the best version of our scenes in the interest of getting to a quicker and thinner laugh. This workshop will focus on grounding, commitment, and acting-in the interest of organic exploration, rather than arbitrary invention that ultimately prevents our scenes from fully evolving. At the end of this, you will win a damn Oscar in every scene.
